It is with great sadness that I write to advise that Peter Bolton passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, 9 August 2026, aged 81.

For many of you, Peter was far more than a financial adviser. He was a trusted confidant, a steady hand in uncertain times, and a person whose advice was always grounded in honesty, integrity, and genuine care for the people he served. Over a career spanning decade’s, Peter helped countless families, retirees, business owners, and professionals navigate life’s financial decisions with confidence.

Following an accomplished 23-year career with the Bank of New South Wales (Westpac), Peter founded the Melbourne practice of Godfrey Weston Limited in 1986, which later became Godfrey Pembroke Limited, in effect Peter is the founding father of our financial planning practice. His professional focus was matched by a strong sense of responsibility to his clients, particularly in retirement planning, estate planning, wealth creation, and helping people achieve financial security.

On a personal note, Peter was the mentor who gave me my first opportunity in financial planning. He believed in people, encouraged growth, and was always willing to share his knowledge and experience.

Those who knew Peter will remember his larger-than-life personality, his warmth, strong handshake, sense of humour and ability to make everyone feel welcome. Whether through his professional work, his involvement in Rotary, rugby, community groups, or the many friendships he built over the years, Peter left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.

The legacy Peter leaves is reflected in the many lives he improved, the relationships he built, and the trust he earned over a lifetime of service.

Peter will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
